A device for identifying the movement of an object and the method thereof are provided. The device involves an inducing panel and a processing circuit. The inducing panel induces the movement of an object and generates at least an induced signal. The processing circuit is linked to the inducing panel and obtains the moving rate of the object at least in one direction, at least the variation of the inducing quantity between the object and the inducing panel, or the variation of the contact area between the object and the inducing panel according to the induced signal. Moreover, the processing circuit generates a corresponding control signal according to the movement rate, the variation of the inducing quantity, or the variation of the contact area. The device can generate a control signal without touching the panel, and improve the operating life of the touch panel accordingly.
