APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR CALCULATING STATE OF CHARGE

PURPOSE: A charge state computation apparatus and method are provided to efficiently manage a battery and to monitor a user by being applied to the battery indicator of a small system. CONSTITUTION: A charge state computation apparatus comprises a detection unit(10), a first output unit(20), a second output unit(30), a controller(40), and a storage unit(60). The detection unit detects the voltage and current of a battery. The storage unit stores coefficient and degree information of a charge state function. The stores coefficient and degree information of the charge state function are calculated from a high level polynomial which is formed using Hermite interpolation and show correlation of the voltage of the battery and a charge state. The first output unit calculates the charge state according to voltage using charge state function information. The controller determines whether a current is flowing or not through the detection of the current and determines the charging and discharging of the battery.
