<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging device and an imaging method capable of taking a fine panoramic image when performing panoramic photography using light emission. <P>SOLUTION: An imaging device having a panoramic photographing mode where plural times of continuous photographing are performed and the image data obtained by the photographing are combined to generate and store a panoramic image data, comprises: a rotation angle detection unit for detecting change amounts in the photographing direction; a light emission unit for emitting light for the photographing; a specific subject detection unit for detecting the existence of a specific subject in the photographing range; a photometry unit for performing photometry for the specific subject detected by the specific subject detection unit; and a light emission control unit for judging the necessity of light emission by the light emission unit when photographing the specific subject in the panoramic photographing mode and calculating the light emission amount to control the light emission of the light emission unit. The light emission control unit, if the light emission for the specific subject is necessary, utilizes at least the position of the specific subject, the photographing direction, and the output from the photometry unit to control the light emission pattern of the light emission unit so as to apply the most appropriate light emission amount when taking images in which the specific subject is to be combined to the panoramic image data after the composition. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
