<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a water soluble polymer whose coloring is suppressed. <P>SOLUTION: In the method for producing the water soluble polymer including a polymerization step of polymerizing a water soluble monomer in an aqueous medium to obtain a water containing gel-like polymer, a cutting and cracking step of cutting and cracking the water containing gel-like polymer to obtain fine particle-like polymer gel and a drying and pulverizing step of drying and pulverizing the fine particle-like polymer gel to obtain a powdery aqueous polymer, the water containing gel-like polymer is stored in an atmosphere having ≤100 ppm oxygen concentration in a period directly after the polymerization step directly before the cutting and cracking step. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
