<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a main roller for a wire saw which can accurately cut an ingot or the like, and to provide the wire saw including the main roller. <P>SOLUTION: The main roller 20 for the wire saw includes: a cylindrical roller body 21 formed of steel, carbon fiber-reinforced synthetic resins or ceramics; a cylindrical exterior body 22 mounted to the outer periphery of the roller body 21; and bosses 24 fit to both ends of the roller body 21. The exterior body 22 is formed of a carbon fiber-containing synthetic resin. Urethane or high-density polyethylene is used as the synthetic resin. Since a carbon fiber is incorporated in the synthetic resin constituting the exterior body, the thermal expansion rate of the exterior body can be lowered, so that the ingot or the like can be highly accurately cut by the wire saw including the main roller 20. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
