A beverage preparing device (1) for preparing a beverage from a powdery substance and a hot liquid is disclosed. The device (1) comprises at least one mixing chamber (11) for mixing a quantity of the powdery substance and a quantity of hot liquid using mixing means (37). The mixing means (37) is drivable by drive means (12). There is an inlet (38) opening into the mixing chamber (11) for the quantity of hot liquid. There is another inlet (21) opening into the mixing chamber (11) for the quantity of powdery substance. An extractor hood (4) is placed on the mixing chamber (11). The device (1) further comprises an extraction duct (3) connected to the extractor hood (4). The extractor duct (3) is provided with suction means (16) for extracting vapour and dust particles from the mixing chamber (11). The preparing device (1) further comprises a first housing (26) and a second housing (25). The first housing (26) accommodates further components (12, 20) of the preparing device (1) and the second housing accommodates the extraction duct (3) and one or more reservoirs (22) for powdery substance. The extraction duct (3) extends entirely along the exterior of the first housing (26). The drive means (12) for the mixing means (37) of the at least one mixing chamber (11) are situated in the first housing (26).
