<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image display device and an image display method which can reduce burn-in by allowing an user to display a burn-in area in advance before burn-in occurs. <P>SOLUTION: An image display device comprises: an image luminance detection part which detects the luminance level of pixels constituting an image displayed on a display, and identifies pixels of a predetermined luminance level or higher; an image compositing part which replaces the pixels of the predetermined luminance level or higher by a specific pattern and makes them displayed on the display; and a control part which obtains a display state of the image on the display every prescribed time, has the image luminance detection part identify pixels of the predetermined luminance level or higher if it determines that the display state is a still image display state, and has the image compositing part replace the pixels of the predetermined luminance level or higher by the specific pattern. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
