<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technique for casting a cylinder block which can thinly form the outer wall part of a jacket. <P>SOLUTION: In the mold device 30 casting a cylinder block, an air exhaust passage 50 discharging air from a cavity 38 is opened at a position between the edge of the cylinder block and a water jacket, and when a valve pin 60 is moved to a valve close position, the discharge of air is disabled, and when the valve pin 60 is moved to a valve open position, the discharge of the air is enabled. The valve pin 60 is projected to the cavity 38 after casting to push out the cylinder block. Running of a molten metal at the outer wall part of the jacket is made satisfactory to achieve the thinning of the outer wall part of the jacket, and further, an air discharge function upon pouring of the molten metal and a pushing-out function upon mold releasing can be obtained. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
