<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an improved lubrication device and method which can determine an ideal time of introducing lubricating oil into a cylinder and lubricate the inner wall surface of a cylinder of a large engine. <P>SOLUTION: The large engine has a plurality of cylinders 20. A piston 25 is arranged inside the cylinder 20. A lubrication device of the cylinder can supply lubricating oil to the cylinder wall 22 through two lubrication points 7 and 17, and has lubricating oil lines 8 and 18 for feeding lubricating oil to the lubrication points 7 and 17. Cut-off elements 5 and 15 which are controlled by a central unit 50 are arranged to the lubricating oil lines 8 and 18, and when the cut-off elements 5 and 15 are open, lubricating oil can be supplied to the lubrication points 7 and 17. The cut-off elements 5 and 15 can be opened at an arbitrary predetermined point of time according to the state of operation of the large engine. The period that the cut-off elements 5 and 15 are open is adjusted so that the amount of lubricating oil to be carried to the lubrication points 7 and 17 can be set arbitrarily according to the state of operation of the large engine. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
