<p>A ring binder mechanism (10) adapted to be engaged with a cover (26) is disclosed as including a housing (12) including at least one recessed portion (20) with a through hole (22), a pair of hinged plates (14) supported by the housing, a plurality of pairs of half-rings (16) mounted to the hinged plates, an eyelet (24) with a first longitudinal end (34) in engagement with the recessed portion of the housing and a second longitudinal end adapted to be in engagement with an inner major surface (32) of the cover, and a rivet (28) with a first longitudinal end (38) in engagement with the first longitudinal end of the eyelet and a second longitudinal end (40) adapted to be in engagement with an opposite outer major surface (30) of the cover, and the pair of hinged plates are pivotable between an open configuration in which the pairs of half-rings are open and a closed configuration in which the pairs of half-rings are closed to form a plurality of closed rings, and a central longitudinal axis (K-K) of the eyelet substantially coincides with a central longitudinal axis of the rivet, and the eyelet, the housing and the pair of hinged plates are pivotable relative to the rivet by substantially 20° to 70° to disengage the eyelet from the rivet.</p> |
