The system has a high-pressure pump for conveying fuel supplied by a fuel tank to a high-pressure storage unit. The storage unit is connected with a fuel injector above a high pressure pipe. The pump has a pump working area (4) covered by a pump cylinder head (2), where the working area is provided with a suction valve (8) and a return valve (5). The suction and return valves are arranged in the cylinder head. The suction valve comprises a suction valve plate (10), and a valve plate (17) is connected with the cylinder head, where the plates are made from high-tensile materials.
