The machine (1) e.g. electric motor (2) and generator (3), has a stator (4) provided with electromagnets (8). A rotor (13) rotates around a rotation axis (14). A distribution ring (24) is provided with power supply lines (16-19) for energizing the electromagnets based on a position of the rotor to apply a rotational torque on the rotor. A cooling ring (25) cools the electromagnets. The distribution ring and the cooling ring are arranged at a same radial distance from the rotation axis. The distribution ring is partly arranged in an annular recess (20) of the cooling ring.
