<p>Provided is a liquid crystal display device that makes it possible to use space effectively within a housing. In the present liquid crystal display device, the external dimensions of a first substrate (21) are greater than the external dimensions of a second substrate (22). The second substrate (22) is positioned on a backlight device (30) side, and a liquid crystal panel (20) and the backlight device (30) are integrally held, with the protruding edge parts (21A, 21B) of the peripheral edge parts of the first substrate (21), which protrude beyond the second substrate (22) in directions within the plane of the substrate, being supported by the opening edge part (32B) of the housing (32). In at least one substrate of the first substrate (21) and the second substrate (22), an external connection part (41A), which is connected to an external circuit (53), is formed on the surface of the substrate on the liquid crystal layer (23) side, and the external circuit (53) is disposed within the housing (32).</p> |
