Heterocyclic-substituted piperidine compounds and the uses thereof

Disclosed is a compound of formula (III) or (IV) which contains a diazepine fused moiety. The substituents are as disclosed in the description. Examples of the compounds are: (Z)-5-(1-(cyclooct-2-enyl)piperidin-4-yl)-7-methoxy-1H-pyrido[2,3-b][1,4]diazepine-2,4(3H,5H)-dione and 5-(1-cyclooctylpiperidin-4-yl)-7-methoxy-1H-pyrido[2,3-b][1,4]diazepine-2,4(3H,5H)-dione. Also disclosed is a composition comprising a compound of formula (III) or (IV), an in-vitro method for modulating ORL comprising administering a compound of formula (III) or (IV), the use of a compound of formula (III) or (IV) in the manufacture of a medicament, a kit comprising a compound of formula (III) or (IV) and a method for preparing a composition comprising admixing a compound of formula (III) or (IV) with an excipient.
