<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To excellently reduce types of corrugated plate separators and to perform thinning cooling in a simple and economical configuration. <P>SOLUTION: A fuel cell stack 10 is configured by stacking a plurality of power generating units 12 along a horizontal direction. A first metal separator 14 disposed at one end in a stacking direction of the power generating units 12 has a first flat part 36b protruding away from a first electrolyte membrane/electrode structure 16a, between wavy channel grooves 44a forming a cooling medium channel 44. A third metal separator 20 disposed at another end in the stacking direction of the power generating units 12 has a second flat part 66b protruding away from a second electrolyte membrane/electrode structure 16b between wavy channel grooves 44b forming the cooling medium channel 44.
