<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To detect a remaining amount of ink accurately, and shorten time for detection processing of the ink remaining amount. <P>SOLUTION: An ink jet apparatus includes: a first storage unit, which is removably attached to an apparatus body, for storing the ink supplied to a head; a second storage unit for storing the ink supplied from the first storage unit and supplying the ink to the head; a calculator for calculating an ink discharge amount discharged from the head; a remaining amount detector for detecting the ink remaining amount in the second storage unit; a foam processor for performing foam processing to decrease ink foam generated in the second storage unit; and a decision unit for deciding whether to make the foam processor perform the foam processing based on the ink discharge amount calculated by the calculator and the ink remaining amount detected by the remaining amount detector. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
