<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a picture evaluating device capable of evaluation taking account of three factors including defocusing, light source intensity and electrostatic latent image. <P>SOLUTION: A picture evaluating device 141 for an electrostatic latent image on a photoconductor comprises at least a scanning optical system 146 that forms an electrostatic latent image on a photoconductor 147 and electrostatic latent image measuring means 1430 that measures an electrostatic latent image. The scanning optical system has at least a light source that emits laser beams, drive means therefor and defocusing regulating means 1470. The picture evaluating device further includes means 1410 that accomplishes defocusing regulation stepwise with the defocusing regulating means, regulation of laser beam intensity stepwise with the defocusing regulating means, measures the electrostatic latent image, figures out the correlation among defocusing, laser beam intensity and electrostatic latent image magnitude, and derives the laser beam intensity to correct variations in the electrostatic latent image magnitude due to defocusing. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
