摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To ensure the reliability of a valve timing controller for adjusting the valve timing of an internal combustion engine with excellent accuracy. <P>SOLUTION: The valve timing controller includes a magnetic viscosity fluid 140 in which magnetic particles are dispersed, which is enclosed in a fluid chamber 114 inside a case 110, and whose viscosity varies by application of a magnetic field, a coil 150 and a conduction control circuit 200 for variably controlling the viscosity of the magnetic viscosity fluid 140 by applying the magnetic field to the magnetic viscosity fluid 140, a brake rotor 130 which is rotatably supported by the case 110, and brought into contact with the magnetic viscosity fluid 140 in the fluid chamber 114 while brake torque according to the viscosity of the fluid 140 is input therein, and a phase adjusting mechanism 300 which is connected to the brake rotor 130 to adjust the engine phase according to the brake torque input into the rotor 130. The conduction control circuit 200 starts the heating of the magnetic viscosity fluid 140 by energization to the coil 150 when the start estimation condition C<SB POS="POST">s</SB>for estimating the next start of an internal combustion engine in a stopped state is established. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT
