<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve a problem in which motion image data needs to be reproduced from a recording medium in order to display representative images, other than representative images already stored in memory, by a list, requiring time for updating a screen of a list of representative images. <P>SOLUTION: When motion image data is reproduced from a recording medium 109 where motion image data having a plurality of clips is recorded, a signal processing part 102 generates representative image data representing a representative image of the clip based on the reproduced motion image data, and stores the generated data in memory 105. A display control part 1032 generates an index screen using the representative image data stored in the memory 105, and displays the generated index screen on a display part 104. Here, a control part 106 determines a clip of the representative image data to be stored in the memory 105 based on the time required for generating the representative image data, generates the representative image data of the determined clip by the signal processing part 102, and stores the generated data in the memory 105. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
