Disclosed is an image processing method for applying a specific distortion correction in less time with a comparatively small circuit. In said image processing method, a virtual projection surface set in a world coordinate system, said virtual projection surface comprising a curved surface or a plurality of flat surfaces joined together, is converted to a camera coordinate system by means of distortion-correction coefficients, and data for an image projected onto said virtual projection surface is computed on the basis of the converted camera-coordinate-system coordinates and pixel data from imaging elements.
