PURPOSE: An ultrasound system for providing an elastic image based on globally uniform stretching and a method thereof are provided to magnify a hard area with a small strain value such as tumor or cancer and to reduce a noise area with a large strain value. CONSTITUTION: An ultrasound data obtaining unit(110) obtains ultrasound data about an object. A processor(120) calculates the first deformation rate between first and second ultrasound data. The processor uniformly spreads the second ultrasound data based on the first deformation rate. The processor calculates the second deformation rate between the first and second ultrasound data. The processor forms an elastic image based on the second deformation rate.
