PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a portable terminal and the like capable inputting characters of different linguistic areas with a computer provided with restricted resources.

SOLUTION: The portable terminal includes: own machine font data 200 which places a first character set in a basic region, and a second character set used in a different linguistic area from the first character set in an external character region, and specifies characters of the first character set or characters of the second character set by a numerical code; storage means 108 which stores an electronic document 35 describing a first numerical code for specifying the characters of the second character set; a numerical code association table 20 which associates a second numerical code for specifying the characters of the second character set in the basic area in predetermined font data, with the first numerical code; and code conversion means 34 which converts the first numerical code in the external area of the own machine font data, which is described in the electronic document stored in the numerical code storage means, into the second numerical code associated therewith in the numerical code association table.
