<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize a faster response characteristic of an optical material. <P>SOLUTION: An optical material includes a mother substrate 101 and a plurality of microcrystals 102 including semiconductors dispersed in the mother substrate 101. The mother substrate 101 includes a material having a band gap energy larger than that of the semiconductors constituting the microcrystals 102. An average value of a particle size distribution of the plurality of the microcrystals 102 is set at such a value that a ratio of the atomic numbers on surfaces of the microcrystals 102 with respect to the atomic numbers inside the microcrystals 102 becomes larger than 1. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
