<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image pickup device that has high S/N ratio during nighttime and a broad dynamic range and can achieve a beautiful color image. <P>SOLUTION: Original image data containing at least three kinds of original image components are obtained by using an image pickup element which has a sensitivity region containing an infrared wavelength region and selectively containing a visible wavelength region and has at least three kinds of arranged pixels having different spectral sensitivities. The original image data are subjected to dynamic range compression to generate a brightness signal containing an infrared wavelength component. A color difference signal of a visible wavelength component is generated from the original image data, and an edge of the brightness signal is detected to generate a brightness high-frequency signal. The color difference signal is modulated on the basis of the brightness high-frequency signal, thereby preventing occurrence of a false color of an edge portion caused by arrangement of color filters of the image pickup element. Accordingly, there can be provided an image pickup device which has high S/N ratio during nighttime and a broad dynamic range and can achieve a beautiful color image. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
