Class 137 A vehicle ventilator comprises a shallow boxlike structure 1 having a vitiated air intake port 2 in its floor, communicating with the interior of the vehicle, transverse exit openings constituted by the gaps between skeleton partitions or louvres 3 extending transversely across the front end of the structure behind a solid leading partition 4, and on the roof, a fresh air intake port 5 controlled by a hood 6 which can be raised, or lowered, by means of a handle 7. Means for mounting the hood 6 comprises a pair of bent levers 8, 8, attached at their upper ends to the underside of the hood 6 pivoted at 9 to brackets 10, and cross connected at their lower ends with a bar 11 to which the handle 7 is attached. A bracket 12 attached to the hood 6 is connected to one end of a coil spring link 13, the other end of which is anchored to a lug 14 secured to the roof of the main structure 1. The spring urges the hood into its open and closed positions with a snap action.
