The device has a measuring tube (1) and a drive unit which comprises several outer piezoelectric elements (6) or electro-dynamic actuating elements arranged in a planar side surface (7) of measuring tube, where the piezoelectric elements are displaced by bending vibration in planar side surface. A reception unit comprising intermediate piezoelectric elements or electro-dynamic receiving elements, receives the signals of oscillation at the planar side surface of measuring tube. An evaluation unit evaluates and processes the oscillation signals of reception unit.
