<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device for separating both very small light particles and large heavy particles from a gas flow. <P>SOLUTION: This device includes a rotor 14 having a plurality of adjacent surface elements 16 accompanied by an intermediate gas flow clearance 48, and fitted rotatably in an ambient casing 12, and both large heavy particles and small light particles can be separated from gas by a compound action of electrostatic attraction and a centrifugal force of a centrifugal separator 10 of such a type that the casing has an inlet 18 for dirty gas, an outlet 22 for clean gas and an outlet 24 for separated particles. A charging unit 44 ionizes particles on the upstream side of a rotor 14. Since ionized light particles are attracted toward the surface of a surface element by electrostatic force, an electric field is formed between the adjacent surface elements 16 of the rotor. Particles accumulated on the surface element are thrown out toward the inner surface of the casing by a centrifugal force formed by the rotor, to be thereby drawn out through the outlet. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
