<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a map data acquisition system that acquires only necessary map data corresponding to the inside of an area in which a vehicle possibly travels and thereby reduces the cost needed to acquire the map data. <P>SOLUTION: The map data acquisition system includes: vehicle position detection means 5; cruisable distance acquisition means 8; and map data requesting means 10 of requesting a server 3 to transmit map data at a request timing of the map data through transmission of a vehicle position that the vehicle position detection means 5 detects and a cruisable distance that the cruisable distance acquisition means 8 acquires. The server 3 transmits map data, limited to map data corresponding to a cruisable area which corresponds to the vehicle position and the cruisable distance and in which the vehicle is supposed to be cruisable, to a navigation device 2 in response to the request for the map data. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
