<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To detect a transfer error in real time, and to give a recording device a feedback on a detection result taking it into consideration that a lengthened recording head elongates a transmission line, thereby causing the possibility of a signal transfer error. <P>SOLUTION: A printhead to which a plurality of element substrates are cascaded outputs transfer error information detected in real time to a subsequent stage element substrate by considering information inputted from the prior stage element substrate following the transfer of a recorded data signal in each element substrate.
