<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technology to improve an aperture ratio of a multi-domain perpendicularly-oriented liquid crystal display. <P>SOLUTION: A liquid crystal display comprises: a first substrate and a second substrate to which perpendicular orientation processing is provided; a liquid crystal layer which lies between the first substrate and the second substrate; multiple gate lines and data lines which are provided on the second substrate and determine a pixel region; a first adjusting means which is provided on the first substrate and extends approximately parallel one another; and a second adjusting means which is provided on the first substrate and extends approximately parallel one another. The first adjusting means and the second adjusting means adjust an orientation direction of a liquid crystal molecule when a voltage is applied to change in accordance with a location in the pixel region.
