A spotting device for contactless spotting of a lab-on-a-chip (LOC) device with oligonucleotide probes, the LOC device having an array of hybridization chambers for receiving the oligonucleotide probes, the probes having nucleic acid sequences that are complementary to target nucleic acid sequences to be identified in a biological sample and the array of hybridization chambers being configured to hold a complete assay of oligonucleotide probes necessary for a predetermined analysis of the biological sample, the spotting device having an array of reservoirs for containing the oligonucleotide probes suspended in a liquid, and, an array of ejectors, each of the ejectors being configured for fluid communication with a corresponding one of the reservoirs respectively such that the ejectors eject droplets containing the oligonucleotide probes from the corresponding reservoir into one of the hybridization chambers, wherein, the array of reservoirs is configured to contain the complete assay of oligonucleotide probes necessary for the predetermined analysis to be performed by the LOC device.
