<p>A benefit can be obtained regarding processing in a 3D compatible terminal to which contents are delivered. Meta information and a control signal are transmitted, in addition to the transmission of the content in a predetermined transmission form, from a content server (10). The meta information includes information indicating whether the entirety of the content is 3D or a part of the content is 3D, information indicating whether the head of the information is 2D or 3D when a part of the content is 3D, and information for identifying the 3D transmission method when the content is 3D. The control signal includes a signal for identifying 2D from 3D, namely, switching information regarding timing for switching between 2D and 3D. An encoding unit (154) encodes the contents stored in a content storage unit (151), meta information generated at a meta information generation unit (152), and control signals generated at a control signal generation unit (153), with a predetermined encoding method.
