The sensor (2) has a light source unit (12) e.g. LED and laser diode, to emit light in two different wavelengths, and two detectors (22, 32) for detecting diffusely reflected light of two distinct different wavelengths. The light source unit is arranged between the detectors. Two polarizers (14, 24) are arranged in two polarization directions of the detectors, where one of the polarization directions is perpendicular to the other polarization direction. The light source unit and the detectors are arranged side by side in a common housing (4).
