LITHIUM SECONDARY BATTERY

PURPOSE: A lithium secondary battery is provided to offer improved lifetime by containing an electrolyte composition capable of forming a stable solid electrolyte interface layer. CONSTITUTION: A lithium secondary battery includes a positive electrode, a negative electrode, and a non-aqueous liquid electrolyte inserted in between the positive and negative electrodes. The negative electrode contains a metallic a negative electrode active material capable of being alloyed with lithium. The non-aqueous liquid electrolyte contains lithium salt, an organic solvent containing halogenated cyclic carbonate and linear carbonate, and 3-halo benzonitrile, -halo-4-hydroxy benzonitrile, or their mixture dissolved in the organic solvent.
