<p>A method for delivering water through a fire hydrant is described. The method includes unlocking a sprinkler cap control lock on the fire hydrant, removing the sprinkler cap control lock to access the operating nut of the fire hydrant and activating the operating nut to deliver water through the sprinkler ports in at least one cap on the fire hydrant. A fire hydrant with a sprinkler cap having a plurality of sprinkler ports and a sprinkler cap control lock, wherein the sprinkler cap control lock covers and prevents access to the operating nut is also described. Systems and methods for lubricating the operating nut and for improved sealing surfaces in the fire hydrant valves are also described.</p> |
