PURPOSE: A method and apparatus for measuring a remote insulation resistance is provided to offer convenience and safety to a measuring process by automatically measuring insulation resistance before inputting the exchange operation of a reserved electric motor and to prevent an accident due to a human error. CONSTITUTION: A remote insulation resistance measuring apparatus comprises a connecting unit(10), a switching unit(20), a measuring module(30), an administrator terminal(40), a hub(50), and external Interface(60). The connecting unit connects the secondary side of a high voltage power circuit breaker which is connected to reserved high-tension motor. The switching unit measures conducting of the reserved high-tension motor, voltage, and insulation resistance by switching an inside switching device. The measuring module measures the insulation resistance of the reserved high-tension motor which is connected to the secondary side of the high voltage power circuit breaker and determines whether exchange operation inputs or not. The administrator terminal is connected to measuring module through serial communications and manages entire operation about measuring module. The administrator terminal records and analyzes insulation resistance data which is measured. The herb mediates outside network connection of the measuring module. The external Interface offers connection of the external terminal through TCP/IP and offers measurement of the insulation resistance and analysis of data.
