A mould for use in casting products for decorative or ornamental purposes which is characterised in that the mould embosses or impresses a pattern simultaneously on both sides of the material placed in the mould. The mould is suitable for use with various materials, such as sugar paste and pastry, to produce items for decorating cakes and other edible products. Preferably, the mould is made of silicone and comprises two parts. The first part is provided with a recess which is of an appropriate shape for the item to be formed by the mould, and the second part is provided with a protrusion such that, when they are brought together, the two parts of the mould engage. In a preferred method of using the mould, a sheet of pastry or other material being moulded is placed across the face of one part of the mould. The act of bringing the two parts of the mould together cuts through the material and thereby separates the moulded item from the- remainder of the sheet of the material. |
