<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a shutdown and storage method of a fuel cell system for effectively suppressing carbon oxidation degradation of a fuel cell. <P>SOLUTION: The shutdown and storage method of a fuel cell system includes a unit fuel cell containing a membrane electrode complex arranging a fuel electrode and an oxidant electrode on both sides of an electrolyte membrane and provided with a gas diffusion layer adjacent to the fuel electrode and the oxidant electrode respectively, and a means to measure an electromotive force of the unit fuel cell. When the fuel cell system is shut down, the electromotive force of the unit fuel cell is measured, then it is judged whether the electromotive force of the unit fuel cell is within an oxidizing range (S02) of the oxidant electrode. When the electromotive force of the unit fuel cell is in the oxidizing range of the oxidant electrode, electric current is taken out from the unit fuel cell (S03). When the electromotive force of the unit fuel cell is below the oxidizing range of the oxidant electrode, electric current extraction is stopped from the unit fuel cell (S05). <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
