PURPOSE: An anti-inflammatory composition and an anti-cancer composition containing Stichopus japonicus is provided to suppress NO generation and inflammatory cytokine generation. CONSTITUTION: A food composition for treating inflammatory diseases contains Stichopus japonicus extract as an active ingredient. The Stichopus japonicus extract is prepared by isolating Stichopus japonicus using a mixture solvent of ethanol and water, removing the solvent, suspending the extract in distilled water, and adding hexane, dichloromethane, ethyl acetate, and butanol.
