PURPOSE: A controller for HVDC and an HVDC system including the same are provided to outputs an optimum ignition angle even when a rectification fails by detecting using the change rate of an ignition angle and an extinction angle and detecting rectification failure. CONSTITUTION: A current controller(210) outputs a first ignition angle signal. An ignition angle controller(250) outputs a second ignition angle signal corresponding to an ignition angle error. A triangle wave generator(240) generates a triangle wave signal to be synchronized with a system voltage. A scale filter(300) outputs a third ignition angle signal by comparing the maximum ignition angel. A selecting unit(280) outputs at least one of first and second ignition angle signals. An ignition angle signal generator uses ignition angle signal and generates an inverter ignition signal.
