PURPOSE: A navigation terminal device having a character reading function is provided to implement precise navigation service by removing an error in information input. CONSTITUTION: A navigation terminal device(100) measures the current position of the navigation terminal device, computes a route from a source to a destination using a full route option and a sectional route option, and displays the computed route. The navigation terminal device comprises a display unit(40), a memory unit(80), a controller(70), a key input unit for setting an image input mode, and a character scan unit(90) which extracts character information from a photographed image and provides the information for setting a route to the controller.
