PURPOSE: A molten metal level detecting device using an exterior thermocouple is provided to improve the precision of molten metal level measurement and to simultaneously measure the level and temperature of molten metal. CONSTITUTION: A molten metal level detecting device(100) comprises an outer case(110), a thermocouple cable(120), thermocouples(130), and a controller(140). The outer case comprises an inner pipe(111) and an outer pipe(112). The thermocouple cable is rolled in the gap between the inner and outer pipes and transmits high-frequency signals. The thermocouples are located inside the outer case as being connected to one end of the thermocouple cable. The controller applies a high-frequency signal to the thermocouple cable or measures the level or temperature of molten metal from a reactive signal.
