PURPOSE: An ultrasonic diagnostic apparatus is provided to produce a gray scale by performing a gradated process based on a physical quantity in an elastic image. CONSTITUTION: A physical quantity output unit produces a physical quantity about the elasticity of a biological tissue based on echo data which is obtained through transmitting and receiving the ultrasonic wave of the biological tissue. A physical quantity average unit produces the average value of the physical quantity in the elastic image of the biological tissue which is made based on the physical quantity. A comparison value output unit(614) produces a comparison value at each pixel by performing the comparison operation of the physical quantity and the average value in each pixel of the elastic image. An indicator value output unit(618) produces an indicator value about elasticity in the predetermined area of the elastic image based on a comparison value. The indicator value output unit changes the comparison value using a predetermined function. The indicator value output unit produces the score value of each pixel and the average value of the score value in the predetermined area.
