A process for converting natural gas to a liquid hydrocarbon wherein the natural gas feed stream is admixed with a hot gas stream, the hot gas stream being at a temperature sufficient to effect a chemical reaction forming an intermediate product stream containing reactive hydrocarbons, the intermediate product stream being quenched and subsequently reacted in a liquefaction zone to produce hydrocarbon liquids, hydrocarbon gases from the liquefaction zone being recycled to the natural gas feed stream, hydrocarbon liquid product being recovered from the liquefaction zone.
