PURPOSE: A cosmetic composition containing keratinase is provided to remove impurities adhered on hair and to enable easy chemical operation or styling. CONSTITUTION: A cosmetic composition for protecting and recovering hair contains 0.001-90 wt% of keratinase as an active ingredient. The keratinase is isolated from Bacillus. The cosmetic composition is manufactured in the form of a shampoo, hair dyeing agent, hair gel, hair conditioner, hair tonic, hair cream, or hair spray. A method for improving hair color and quality comprises a step of treating hair with the composition at 20-50°C within 30 minutes.
