<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a portable terminal and a communication control method thereof which blocks communications from being made in a user's undesired condition at a communication unit of a contactless IC chip etc. capable of automatically starting communication upon receipt of radio signals. <P>SOLUTION: With an IC chip key (e.g., side key 519) not pushed down, a contactless IC chip 109 is prohibited from communicating. This surely prevents the contactless IC chip 109 and a reader/writer 600 from automatically communication in a user's undesired condition.
