<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical pointing device formed integrally including an optical path changing means and an imaging/reflecting unit and, where a light guide plate optical member within which light is guided by reflection is to be used, performance deterioration of the pointing device during assembly is eliminated by a simple method, resulting in a high manufacturing yield. <P>SOLUTION: In a cover unit 24, a contact face 11 with which a subject 10 is in contact, an imaging element 14 that guides light to be guided to a photographic element 15 and a bending element 12, such as a prism, that changes the direction of reflected light from the subject 10 and guides the light to the imaging element 14 are integrally formed.
