The method involves transcoding image data received by a vehicle. The transcoded image data is transmitted over a wireless interface e.g. wireless local area network (WLAN) interface, of the vehicle. The image data is received by cameras (101-104) that are arranged in or at the vehicle. The image data is transcoded based on parameters of the interface, where the parameters are selected from one of a group consisting of maximum bandwidth and available bandwidth of the interface, costs for transfer of data and/or service quality features of the interface. An independent claim is also included for a device for processing image data.
