<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a brushless DC motor capable of controlling normal rotation and reverse rotation with a simple structure, and a driving circuit thereof. <P>SOLUTION: A brushless DC motor 10 includes: a stator 20 having a plurality of salient poles 21-24; coils 41-44 wound around the salient poles 21-24; and a rotor 30 having permanent magnets 31-34 disposed facing the stator 20. Tip parts 11-14 of the salient poles 21-24 are asymmetrically formed right and left with respect to the center lines c1-c4, and in the adjacent salient poles 21-24, the same shape sides of the tip parts 11-14 face each other such that 11b faces 12b, 12a faces 13a, 13b faces 14b, and 14a faces 11a.
