The device has a profile unit which is attached over a fastening unit at a cantilever arm of an excavator and is movable by the excavator in the formed pipe bedding. A laser is formed, whose laser beam is aligned parallel to the longitudinal direction of the pipe. A laser receiving unit is provided for receiving the laser beam and is mounted at the fastening unit. An independent claim is also included for a method for forming a pipe bedding.
